US Army testing fuel cells in tanks

- The US Army is testing fuel cells for its Abrams tanks, to provide auxiliary power for sensors, computers, battle command technology and other electronics.
The fuel cell unit converts diesel into hydrogen which is then passed into the fuel cell.
The technology is currently being tested in a laboratory with a view for testing in a tank once proven in the laboratory.
Once the hydrogen has been generated, the fuel cell can also run in silence.
