OriginOil - new way to get hydrogen from algae
Production, July 14 2010 (The Hydrogen Journal)
- OriginOil of Los Angeles has announced that it has invented a new way to generate hydrogen from living algae.
The system uses "viable, high growth rate, high oil content algae strains" the company says and does not need any further energy input, genetic modification or stressing of the algae.
The company did not reveal how the system worked.
The company said it could be used to make a portable hydrogen generation system, taking sunlight and providing hydrogen, with no need for complex hydrogen transportation systems.
