Riversimple hydrogen cars available in Leicester from Spring 2012
Transportation, June  18  2010 (The Hydrogen Journal)

- UK hydrogen car startup Riversimple has announced plans to make 30 of its cars available for lease to the public in Leicester, UK, from spring 2012, in a 12 month trial.

It has signed a deal with Leicester City Council for the pilot. There will also need to be hydrogen fuelling stations in the town.

The cars have two seats, a top speed of 50 miles per hour and can go 200 miles on one fill-up of hydrogen.

If the trial is successful, the company says it "will consider" building a factory in Leicester which can manufacture 5,000 cars each year, employing 250 people. The cars would then be leased for £200 a month plus mileage.

The company has spent around £3m so far developing the technology.
