Europe - industry hydrogen group looks for support from Spain Prime Minister

- The European hydrogen and fuel cells industry group NEW-IG is hoping that the Spanish government, as president of the EU for the first 6 months of 2010, will help support fuel cell vehicles.
According to NEW-IG, Spanish prime minister José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero has announced his support to electric car production in Europe. NEW-IG hopes he will also consider hydrogen fuel cell vehicles, particularly as they are also electric cars (but without a battery).
“Fuel cell vehicles are part of the electrical car family. A clear commitment from the EU’s Presidency might be the tipping point we need to trigger a mass-market introduction," says Gijs van Breda Vriesman, Chairman of the Industry Grouping NEW-IG." A coordinated approach towards the various efforts for development is indeed fundamental to an effective introduction of green cars.”
