Horizon - fill up hydrogen cartridges on your desk from electricity
Production, Jan 13 2010 (The Hydrogen Journal)
- Horizon Fuel Cell Technologies of Singapore is demonstrating a "personal hydrogen station" at this year's Consumer Electronics Show (Las Vegas, Jan 7-10 2010), which can generate hydrogen on a table top, using electricity from the mains, a solar panel or a wind turbine.
The hydrogen can then be stored in refillable cartridges containing a metallic alloy, to provide portable electricity as needed later.
The company is now planning to develop a range of products which can use the cartridges to provide power to cell phones, lighting and other devices where a portable power source might be needed.
The company sees it as a step towards providing a way for people to create hydrogen for fuel cell vehicles in their homes.
